The academic session 2017-18 began with the three days Orientation Programme from 20th July to 22nd July 2017 with an objective of creating an orientation and conceptual clarity regarding the goals of professional social work for all the students of B.A (H) Social Work. There was participation and guidance by distinguished resource persons from various sites of social work practice with marginalized groups in order to enhance the knowledge base as well as insight of students about the course. The major themes undertaken during programme were – “Social Work with Tribal Communities” by Dr. Budhaditya Das (Assistant Professor, Ambedkar University), “Social work with Persons with Disabilities” by Mr. Pawan, Assistant Professor, Disability Studies at GTB College, “Issues and Interventions to protect children” by Mr. Shubham, Social Work Practitioner, Child Welfare Committee), “Social Work in Corporate Sector” by Dr. Seema Sharma (Assistant Professor, Department of Social Work, University of Delhi), “Marginalization and Social Justice” by Dr. Shashi Dev (Assistant Professor, Department of Social Work, University of Delhi), “Psychological grounding in Social Work” by Dr. Meena Sawaria (Educational Psychologist and Research Fellow at Ambedkar University), “Social Work in Legal Sector” by Dr. Vijay Pandey (Social Work Partitioner), “Child Welfare and Social Work practice” by Dr. Abhishweta Jha (Associate Fellow, Ambedkar University) and “Social Work with Minorities” by Dr. Preeti Jha (Associate Fellow, Ambedkar University). The specific objective of this programme was to facilitate the transition of knowledge and practical aspect of Professional Social Work – values, ethics and goals to the future as well as current batches in the department.
