Diwali Mela was organized on 13th October 2018 as an initiative in the form of a socio-cultural programme in order to provide an opportunity to students to reflect and work upon their organizing, documenting, fund-raising and communication skills required in planning and implementation of cultural events. The theme of Diwali Mela this year was based on the significance of freedom of speech and expression in the democracy through famous poetic note of revolutionary writer Faiz Ahmed Faiz’s ‘Bol Ke Lab Azaad Hain Tere’. Three distinguished speakers from academia and field – Prof. Manoj Jha, Dr Ravikant and Dr Anil Chamadia shared their insights on the significance of the freedom of speech and expression, the idea of second chance and also the importance of defending it in the contemporary times. This occasion also had cultural performances by the students as well as representatives from various organizations – folk dance, folk songs, solo dance and group dance competitions. Moreover, there were around ten organizations which also participated by putting their stalls of handicraft items in the college premises.
