The orientation programme earmarks the beginning of every academic session in the Department of social work. A three days orientation programme was organized from 20th July, 2018, 21st July, 2018 and 23rd July, 2018. The department has invited resource persons from various institutions to orient the students of B.A. (H) Social Work. The orientation programme comprised of sessions such as “Self Awareness” by Dr. Rashmi Jain, Assistant Professor, Department of Social Work, Jamia Millia Islamia; “Media, Communication and Social Work” by Mr. Anto P.C., Nest Creations; “Awareness on Family Planning” by Integrated District Health Society Team, North District; “Social Work with Elderly: Roles and Challenges” by Dr. Archana Kaushik, Associate professor, Department of Social Work, University of Delhi; “Mentally Challenged People: Issues and challenges” by Ms. Rachna Nain, Welfare Officer, Asha Kiran; “Leadership Skills” by Ms. Nalini Dixit, Project Coordinator, Children organization; “Human Rights and Social Work” by Ms. Jaspreet, Advocate and Social Worker; “HIV/AIDS: Role of Counsellor and Counselling Skills”by Ms. Ritu Sharma, Assistant Director, Delhi State AIDS Control Society; “Crime Against Women: Care and Protection” by Ms. Apoorva, Social Worker, Crime Against Women Cell; “Rehabilitation of Prisoners” by Ms. Priyanka Yadav; “Children with special needs: Social Work Interventions” by Ms. Charu Sethi ; “Impact of Media: Creating awareness among youth” by Ms. Tripti Oberai, Counselling Psychologist; “Sexual and Gender Based Violence: Role of Social Workers in providing care” by Mr. Faisal Shah, MSF. Other sessions on Introduction to Social work profession, Report Writing, Sensitivity: Issues and Responses, Therapeutic Approach in Social Work: Healing by doing, Field Work Guidelines & Objectives, Displacement and Development: Case Studies, PRA: An Introduction, Movie screening on social issues, Essential Communication in Fields of Social Work were taken by the in house faculty members of Department of social Work. On 23rd July, 2018 students taken to SOS Children’s Village and Children organization for observational visit. All sessions were informative, interactive and provided a great learning experience to the students of B.A. (H) Social Work.
