The Department of Geography was established in Aditi Mahavidyalaya in the year 1996 initially with two courses; optional paper in B. El. Ed course and B.A. (P) course which was further expanded in 2007 with an introduction of Honours course. Currently, four courses are offered namely, BA (Honours) Geography, elective discipline in BA (Programme), Generic elective papers for other honours courses and optional paper in B. El. Ed. There are more than 200 students enrolled in different courses which are mentored by 10 highly enthusiastic and dynamic faculties with diverse specialisation.

Our department leave no stone unturned to harness the potential of our students and provide state-of-the-art exposure to broaden their horizons and enhance their skills especially in map-making, remote sensing and GIS technology. To facilitate them special lectures, workshops, training programs, seminars and filed excursions are being organised.

Another feature of our department is our Geographical Association “Dharitri” under its banner annual academic – cum- cultural event is being organised with great zeal. Moreover, the department publishes yearly magazine on some pressing issue which enhance our student’s research and literary skills.
